EXTREMELY LONG-BLOOMING BISHOP’S HATS AVAILABLE FOR THE FIRST TIME

Two new Bishop’s Hats, Epimediums have just been released with the longest bloom period of any on the market today.  Their prolific, elegant blossoms appear well above the foliage on graceful arching stems. In the breeze, their gem-like flowers deliver a rousing performance, looking like hundreds of butterflies floating about.  Easy to grow in shade, even does well in dry shade.

‘Pink Elf’’ entertains us with dark pink flowers with lighter pink outsides.

‘Fire Dragon’ demands attention with its bewitching, large flowers that are a spectacular yellow and purple. 

Unusual compact selection

‘Glowing Magenta’ Evening Primrose, Oenothera kunthiana.  Fuzzy buds open to deep pink, 4-petaled flowers from early through late summer.  The narrow, lance-shaped, dark green leaves form a low, prostrate, spreading mound. This plant works well in rock gardens, near the front of the border, or in containers.  Grows 12” tall and prefers sun to part shade.

‘Redbug’ Pitcher Plant, Sarracenia.  An amazing native cultivar, this carnivorous perennial is a natural choice for the sunny pond side or in a bog garden. The plants produce “pitchers” that are hollow, modified leaves covered with a “hood” to keep rainwater out and insects trapped inside. ‘Redbug’ produces red, cobra-shaped pitchers with deep red veins and a slightly wavy or scalloped hood. When grown in more shade, the pitchers are green. In fact, the color varies with conditions in the environment such as temperature, light intensity, day length, and cultural conditions. 'Redbug' is a hybrid of S. rubra x S. wherryi.

This plant is a member of the "Little Bug Series" of Sarracenia.  This is a group of complex hybrids developed at the University of North Carolina.  Sarracenia, or Hybrid Pitcher Plants, are insectivorous (bug eating!) herbaceous perennials that can be found growing naturally in sunny, moist to boggy areas throughout the southeastern United States.

'Sensation Rose’ Salvia.  Sensation isn't a strong enough word to describe this fabulous plant.  Multitudes of rich, sparking, deep pink to violet blossoms create a fabulous jaw-dropping display spring through summer.  Grows 10-12".

'Tiki Torch', Coneflower, Echinacea. Massive 4 1/2" deep, dark orange blossoms with a spicy scent top tall 36" stems.  The blossoms' intense color lasts for weeks, rather than days.

‘Lavender Stardust’ Daylily, Hemerocallis.  One of the very best lavender daylilies.  Beautifully clear lavender pink, heavily diamond-dusted flowers with light pink    midribs, a bright yellow halo and soft green throat are  produced on heavily budded stalks. The ruffled, sculpted petals are of very heavy substance.  Even the anthers    coordinate perfectly with their lavender pink tips.
