NEPETA, Catmint.  Sun/part shade; blooms summer; valued for their long blooming period; fragrant gray-green foliage; excellent plants that do well in heat and drought.  Deer and rabbit resistant.

faassenii ‘Kit Kat.’  Compact 16” plants with short, narrow racemes of dark purple blue flowers and small gray-green foliage. 

f. ‘Walker’s Low.’  Named 2007 Perennial Plant of the Year’.  Masses of lavender blue flowers are produced in summer on long, arching stems.  Aromatic grey leaves.  Grow 2-3’ tall.  Excellent, low are plants that are tolerant of considerable drought.  Rabbit and deer resistant. 

 

grandiflora ‘Wild Cat.’  This large, well-branched, abundant flowering Catmint is strikingly colored with long racemes of purple-blue flowers that have a purple red calyx.  48”.

latifolia ‘Super Cat.’  Strong, upright stems produce multitudes of 8” violet flower spikes.  Wonderful in fresh bouquets.  48-52” beauty.

 

mussinnii ‘Blue Wonder.’ 12-15"; lavender-blue 6" flower spikes; spectacular ground cover; good edger. Designated a Missouri Botanical Garden’s ‘Plant of Merit’.

subsessilis ‘Sweet Dreams.’  Large, soft, two-tones, white and pink flowers on upright clumping stems of neat, serrated leaves.  Blooms July through Sept.

 

yunnanensis ‘Blue Dragon.’  Huge blue flowers which look like dragon heads close-up. Upright and compact with large showy flowers. Excellent in a sunny boarder or large container. Height 30-36”.

 

‘Joanna Reed.’  Low growing, very vigorous and incredibly floriferous, this Catmint provides outstanding performance in containers and in the landscape. It has great rebloom when cut back and it stays tight when grown in full sun.  3’ tall and wide.

 

‘Little Trudy.’  Spikes of lavender petals top compact, neat foliage that only grows 8-10” tall, and 12-16” wide.  Wonderful to tuck into small spots that need a splash of color.  Shimmering silver foliage is another one of its outstanding attributes.  Flourishes in full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil.
