GAILLARDIA, Blanket Flower: sun; blooms June until a hard frost. aristata ‘Amber Wheels’. Selected for its unique blossoms; large, golden yellow flowers with fringed petals and prominent amber-red center. They are produced on tall stems above the mounded, lance shaped leaves all summer long and into fall. Reaches 28 - 32 inches tall. a. ‘Arizona Sun’. 2005 AAS Flower Winner. Provides a continuous display of large 3” mahogany red flowers with bright yellow petal edges. 8-10” tall plants. Oustanding! a. ‘Bijou’: very compact grower. Red flowers with yellow tips bloom from summer to frost and are heat tolerant. Deer resistant. Good cut flower. Butterfly magnet. 10”. a. ‘Oranges & Lemons’. 'Fanfare'. From England comes one of the most talked about new plants! Deep scarlet trumpet flowers, topped by bright yellow ends, sparkle in the garden all summer into fall. Growing 18-24 inches it thrives in full sun and grows in a compact, attractive mound. Remove the spent flower heads to encourage this hot color performer to keep going throughout the season. 'Fanfare' also makes for a delightful cut flower. 'Goblin': 12"; The classic which all other Blanket Flowers are judged. It is covered with large showy deep red flowers with yellow margins all summer. ‘Summer Kiss’. Soft apricot with a deeper sunny gold blush blossoms continue all summer into fall. Deadhead for best results. 18”. ‘Tokajer’. Turn up the heat with these hot colored, summer bloomers. Marmalade-orange daisies become darker toward the eye that is a the reddish-brown cone. GALIUM, Sweet Woodruff: shade/partial shade; blooms May-June; excellent groundcover. odoratum: 8-10"; fragrant white star-shaped flowers above attractive whorled green leaves. The leaves have a fragrance of newly-mown hay and are used to make May wine. Galium is very attractive beneath shrubs or in a naturalized area.
GAURA, Apple Blossom Grass: sun; blooms June-October; drought tolerant; long flowering. lindheimeri ‘Corrie’s Gold’: Exciting new variety. Creamy gold-edged foliage. From England. l. ‘Ballerina Blush’. Delicate blush pink flowers resemble butterflies on graceful, slender stalks, all summer long. Grows to 3 to 4 feet when in flower. Easy to grow in full sun in well drained soil. l. ‘Ballerina Rose’. Delicate, rose pink flowers on compact, upright plants. Grows to 18 inches tall and wide. Easy to grow in full sun in well drained soil. Perfect for the cottage garden setting l. ‘Crimson Butterflies’: deep pink flowers early spring until frost. 18”. GAZANIA, Cold Hardy Gazania: sun; tolerant of drought once established. linearis ‘Colorado Gold’: glossy mounds of deep green, strap-shaped leaves are spangled with shiny yellow flowers throughout the growing season. A cold hardy Mountain cousin to annual bedding gazanias. It does well under ordinary garden treatment or in unamended dry soils as well. Plants are 10” across, 3” tall. ‘Tanager’. Florescent orange daisies from earliest spring to late autumn create dazzling specimens, ideal for mass displays. Glossy dark green leaves develop a deep purple tinge in the winter months. May reseed. Reaches 4 inches tall and 10 inches wide. Grow in full sun to part shade in very well drained, dry soil. Dislikes winter wet.
GENTIANA, Gentian: septemfida var. ‘Lagodechiana’. The easiest Gentian to grow! Amazingly bright blue flowers appear in early summer. Grows well in half shade to partial sun, however it does not like full sun. 8-12”.
GERANIUM, Cranesbill/Hardy Geranium: sun/part shade; bloom times vary; highly valued for their summer-long blooming period and grow well in almost any moist, well-drained soil. Larger foliage varieties need some shade, the varieties with the finely divided foliage can usually tolerate full sun. Distinctive dissected or lobed leaves often change color in fall. Fruit is shaped like crane's beak or bill. Divide every 2-4 years. Excellent plants that belong in every garden. cantabriginese: Carpeting Geraniums with aromatic, light-green deeply-divided foliage. ‘Biokovo’: 10”; pinkish white flowers held well above the attractive dark green foliage; fall color is red; choice variety that is highly recommended; excellent groundcover for sun or shade, even dry shade under trees. ‘Biokovo Karmina’: 10”; dark pink flowers held well above the attractive dark green foliage; fall color is red; choice variety that is highly recommended; excellent groundcover for sun or shade, even dry shade under trees. ‘Westray’. Rich warm-pink flowers bloom for a long time over full, compact plants. 12”.
cinereum, Grayleaf Geranium: Low growing species with tufted, small deeply-divided foliage. 1.5” cup-shaped flowers, with dark veins converging in the center to form an eye. ‘Alice’. A stronger growing variety with larger pale-lilac pink flowers and silver-green foliage. 'Ballerina': 4-6" mounds; large lilac pink flowers with a dark center and purple veins; finely cut gray-green leaves; a real beauty. Winner of the Royal Horticultural Society Award of Merit.
himalayense (syn. G. grandiflorum). Wonderful, finely cut foliage turns bright orange and red in fall. Very large 2” blooms appear in summer. ‘Plenum’ (syn. G. ‘Birch’s Double). Double violet blue flowers top 15” plants.
macrorrhizum: Fairly large, rich-green deeply divided foliage. Excellent groundcover. Grows well in shade, and even does well in dry shade, where little else will grow. ‘Bevans’: Spreading mounds of foliage makes this a good ground-cover choice. Deep magenta blooms with contrasting red sepals appear in late spring and summer. Variegatum’: Foliage is variegated with random cream splashes. Bright magenta flowers.
oxonianum: Vigorous species with deeply divided foliage. Sweet heart-shaped cupped petals. Sun to part shade. ‘Bressingham Delight’: This hybrid Geranium is a compact, clump-forming, basically stemless plant that typically grows to 16" tall and spreads to 24" wide. Soft pink flowers appear in spring and continue blooming throughout the summer into fall. Rounded, deeply lobed, dark green foliage.
pratense, Meadow Cranesbill. Rather tall species with large, finely-cut leaves and large saucer shaped flowers. ‘Summer Skies’: Double violet-blue flowers with darker veins and sometimes with white centers. 24”.
sanguinium: Profuse blooming plants that do well in sun or shade. Very heat and drought tolerant. These low, bushy perennials are very easy to grow and makes excellent groundcovers. sanguinium, Bloody Cranesbill: 10-12"; purplish red flowers; good groundcover. Produces a stunning carpet of saucer shaped light pink flowers with red veins. ‘Violet’. Same as above with deep violet flowers.
Hybrid-Cultivars ‘Ann Folkard’: Very unique plant with cupped rich purple-magenta flowers with black center that stand out against the gold-green, deeply divided foliage. spreading cultivar. 20”. ‘Blue Sunrise’. Golden yellow foliage and a long succession of large, violet-blue flowers. Grow in full sun to part shade. Grows 18 inches tall and wide. ‘Double Jewel’. Double white flowers with a splash of pink-purple in the center. Long blooming, May to September. Compact, reaching only 10 inches tall and wide. Grow in full sun to shade. ‘Jolly Bee’: Massive cupped blue flowers with large white centers and dark-maroon arteries. Very floriferous, long blooming plants. ‘Orkney Cherry’. A new bronze foliage Geranium with bright pink flowers continuously from June-Sept. 10”. Sun to part shade. ‘Perfect Storm’. A storm of small, magenta pink blossoms with a black center and black veins are produced atop low, spreading mounds of velvety grey-green foliage in summer. Reaches 12in tall and wide. Blooms late spring through early summer.

Bloom! ‘Shocking Blue’. An improved ‘Johnson’s Blue’ and some say even better than ‘Rozanne’. Bright blue flowers with darker veins and white center appear spring through fall. 12”.
‘Starman’. A unique color pattern for a hardy geranium; purplish pink flowers with fuchsia veining and marking sin the center of the flower. Provides a bright splash of color all summer. Reaches 12in tall and wide. Blooms early to late summer. ‘Stephanie’. Pale violet flowers with dark purple veins cover mounds of foliage. Extremely floriferous. GEUM, Avens: sun/partial shade; blooms late spring to early summer. flora plena ‘Blazing Sunset’. Fully double, scarlet red flowers up to 50% larger than other varieties are produced all summer long. Lovely in borders, cottage gardens and in fresh bouquets. Grows 24”. ‘Double Bloody Mary’. Clusters of large, double burgundy red flowers in summer. 18”.
GLOBULARIA cordifolia, Leather Leaf Powder Puff. Cherished for its tight, 1”-tall blue-green carpet of evergreen leaves and its hundreds of fluffy light blue powder-puff flowers in late spring. Perfect for edging pathways and in between stepping stones. Easy to grow and very tolerant of dry conditions. Native to southern Europe. Gows 4” tall and 15” wide.
GYPSOPHILA, Baby's Breath: sun; blooms in summer; excellent cut and dried flower; cut back spent blooms to encourage more flowers. paniculata 'Pink Fairy': 18"; clear, light pink double flowers; long blooming. paniculata ‘Vietties Dwarf: long blooming white flowers; only 15” tall. repens 'Alba': 4-12"; white flowers from late spring to frost; finest trailing plant for rock garden. repens 'Rosea': 4-12"; pink flowers from late spring to frost; finest trailing plant for rock garden. silenoides.
