FALLOPIA:  sun to part shade

japonica ‘Variegata’:  stunning white-splashed foliage with pink stems, shocking

coral-colored new growth.  White fragrant flowers in August.

 

FARFUGIUM japonica ‘Aureomaculata’, Leopard Plant.  Formerly Ligularia tussilaginea and formerly listed as tender.  Definitely hardy here if placed in a protected spot, and may even be hardy if not.  Boasts large rich glossy yellow spotted deep green foliage and clusters of yellow flowers in fall. 

 

FILIPENDULA, Meadow Sweet:  partial shade; blooms May-July; showy, long lasting cottong candy like plumes in summer; prefers moist, rich soil.

rubra ‘Venusta’, Martha Washington’s Plume:  4-6’; very large, deep pink flower panicles which resemble plumes of feathers summer until fall; native to Missouri; a winning giant.

ulmaria ‘Alba’, Queen of the Meadow:  36-48”; plumes of creamy-white strongly scented flowers in early summer; striking plant for back of the border.

vulgaris 'Kahome':  15"; very attractive long-lasting pink flowers; dark green ferny leaves.
