WELCOME to another year at Sugar Creek Gardens.  This year we are offering our largest collection of plants ever, over 2,000 different varieties, with hundreds of them being offered for the first time.  Our goal is to bring you the best, newest, most interesting, sometimes strangest, and just plain fun, plants from around the world.  Here are just a few of the new beauties that are waiting for you.  Enjoy!

A STUNNING SPORT OF THE BELOVED 2002 PERENNIAL PLANT OF THE YEAR 'DAVID'

'David's Lavender' Tall Garden Phlox, Phlox paniculata.  It has inherited the great characteristics of the award winner that we wish all Phlox had—incredible flower production and mildew resistance.  Huge clusters of velvety lavender blooms appear over a long time in summer.  Grows to a majestic 4’ tall.

THE BEST RED CONEFLOWER OF ALL TIME

‘Twilight’ Coneflower, Echinacea Vibrant red flowers distinguish this plant from every other Coneflower.  To date the best red and it is hard to image that one could ever get better.  One of the outstanding plants of the ‘Big Sky Series’ of Coneflowers.  The crimson flowers sport unusual red cones and are extremely fragrant and very long blooming.

‘Harvest Moon’, Coneflower, Echinacea   Another fabulous introduction from the ‘Big Sky’ Series of Coneflowers.  Luscious earthy gold flowers the color of a harvest moon surround a golden orange cone.  The large, long-blooming flowers are deliciously fragrant.  Grows 24-30”.

THE MOST SPECTACULAR EUPHORBIA EVER

‘Tasmanian Tiger’ Eurphobia.   A dramatic selection with blue leaves that are edged in white.  The unusual flowers are surrounded by white bracts that stay on the plants for a long time.  Needs excellent drainage, full sun to part shade.  Fabulous container specimen.  Grows 3 feet tall and wide and needs extra winter protection.

‘Beautiful Blue’ Beardstongue, Penstemon.  This wonder has spectacular flower trumpets of one of the most sought out colors, but so hard to find in nature, of azure-blue.  The flared trumpets adorn this perfect border perennial from June through September.  24”.

A STUNNING HOSTA!

‘Eternal Flame’ HostaFabulous and perfect!  New sport (offspring)  of the popular Hosta ‘Whirlwind’.  From the garden of Hybridizer Hans Hansen comes one of the most stunning Hostas of all time.  The quilted black-green leaves serve as the perfect foil for a brilliant central pattern of eye-blasting white that does not fade.  Light lavender flowers in midsummer.

A HARDY TROPICAL?

‘Dancing Crane’, Variegated Japanese Ginger, Zingiber moiga A wonderful exotic shade-loving plant that is a hardy perennial.  Although many think of this plant as a tropical it has overwintered successful in zone 5’s (-20 degrees) with no extra protection for the past 5 years.  Dancing Crane has an appearance as elegant as its name.  It forms dense clumps of tall stalks lined with green leaves highlighted by a stunning central “white lightening” pattern.  Small, fragrant, light yellow flowers peak out at the base of the plant at ground level in late summer and fall.   It is lovely in containers as long as there is excellent drainage.  Grows 18-36”, spreads 12”.

Possibly the MOST DISEASE RESISTANT ROSE in existence

‘Home Run' Shrub Rose.  A fiery-red offspring of the beloved 'Knock Out' Rose--but even more disease resistant!  This beauty deliveries everything we all want in a rose.  Flame red flowers from spring into late fall, total disease resistant--you won't see one black spot or any of the dreaded mildew on these leaves.  It is perfect for a colorful border, specimen plant, or in a pot.  Very low maintenance with NO SPRAYING or FANCY PRUNING NEEDED.

‘Cloudy’ Monkshood, Aconitum Wonderful distinctive flowers, in the shape of a monk’s hood are soft blue and held high above dark green shiny foliage.  Great stately plants for the shade garden.  Not recommended for people with young children or pets, as all parts of plant are poisonous.

A Great Addition for Dish and Rock Gardens

Trailing Ice Plant, Delosperma congestum  A succulent groundcover with radiant yellow flowers.  Blooms from summer to early fall.  Compact evergreen foliage takes on purple tones in winter. Grows 2-4” in full sun.

DOUBLE THE FLOWER POWER WITH DOUBLE KNOCK OUT ROSE

This incredible rose was introduced last year, but due to its outstanding characteristics, we are reintroducing it.  The same breeder who brought us the beloved 'Knock Out' Rose has developed its sister, with all the same disease resistance and blooming power but with DOUBLE FLOWERS, and MORE SHADE TOLERANCE.  It will bloom in as little as 3 to 4 hours of direct sun.  Unstoppable cherry red, classic shaped rose blossoms appear from early summer all the way till frost.  A wonderful low care shrub that needs NO SPRAYING and NO FANCY PRUNING.  It is a little smaller than 'Knock Out' growing 3 feet tall and wide.  'Double Knock Out' makes a fantastic hedge with its deep green, dense foliage and non-stop flowers.  It also is exceptional as a specimen plant or in containers.
